“Mine…” he whispered.
One word and it made Amelia’s world upside down. One word and her heart were like a thousand horses racing on a mountain. But there was something different. This man was looking at her like they had just met. But his eyes looked different.
‘Mine! Mine! Mine!’ Lily said happily.
He smiled at her and stepped forward. “It’s true. You are true.”
Amelia was confused. She doesn’t know what to say. She might not know the name of her mate, but she remembered she had blue eyes. Though, the man in front of her had the same scent and hair color. He still looked like a different person. She stepped backward. The door behind him opened again and a man came out.
‘OMG! What is this?!’ Lily exclaimed.
‘What is going on, Lily? Am I dreaming?’
‘No! Oh, Moon Goddess! You blessed us more!’
“I see you saw our mate.”
Another man stood up in front of Amelia. There she saw two different people but with the same face.
Chapter 1: She is wolfless
Amelia kept throwing stones at the lake. She was sitting at the end of the bridge and her feet were in the water. She likes sitting there and killing out her time. Especially when she knew that her pack members had shifted to their wolves and ran off through their territory together. Amelia? She was always left alone.
Her seventeenth birthday will be tomorrow. It should be a joyous day. But for Amelia, it's just the same ordinary day for her. Most wolves meet their mates on their seventeenth birthday. But a wolfless like her would be impossible to find a mate. Amelia had heard about the wolf bond and pairing together of the fated mates. The bond pull is unlike anything else. They will be the better half. Without her wolf, Amelia would never find her mate. And it would be funny if she really thought that her wolf would come out.
Amelia’s eyes watered. How she wished that she could talk with her mother again. She wanted her to explain why she was like that. But it would be impossible too. Her mother died protecting her from the rogues that attacked them. Seven years had already passed but it still felt like yesterday. She witnessed everything. How her mother was slashed in the throat. How she slowly loses her breath while staring at her eyes directly. She could never forget about it. Everyone was blaming her because of it.
Then when she turned sixteen, her wolf never came out like the others. Since that happened, Amelia had been called weak, pathetic, disgraceful, and so many hurtful words. Just because she couldn’t shift to her wolf. They were even saying that was the reason why she couldn’t save her mother. And she didn’t just lose her mother, even her friends. It was like her packmates used it as an opportunity to show what they really felt about her. And it hurt her because even her older brother hadn’t spoken to her since that incident. Well, she could say that not everything left her. Bea was still there for her. She was her best friend. She never left her, despite what their other packmates were saying about her.
Her day would be basically peaceful and lovely at times like that. She could only find peace when her packmates were on pack runs. No bullies. No glaring. She was happy.
Amelia heard footsteps behind her. She turned her head and saw Nicolai, their future alpha. With his girlfriend and friends. She immediately stood up as she saw them approaching her. If there were people that she didn't want to meet, it was their group. She was almost at the end of the bridge when one of the guys grabbed her on the shoulder and pulled her. They all laughed when they heard me groaning in pain. They all have their own wolf. They might be in human form, but their strength was unlikely for humans.
“Where do you think you're going, you stinky wolfless human?” John said. He was a subordinate of Nicolai in bullying Amelia. He was holding Amelia tightly in his arms. His nails were almost piercing through her skin. “What should we do to her now?”
Amelia looked at Nicolai, frowning. She was trying to see and find at least a little pithiness in his eyes. But it just broke her more seeing this man, their future alpha, doesn't care about her. What does she expect? She was an outcast in their pack. Amelia saw Nicolai nod. Then, the next thing that she felt, her body was slowly falling off the bridge.
Amelia tried to crawl above using her hands. But she was no swimmer either and the lake was deep. She gasped for air every time her head was above the water.
“Help!” Amelia shouted. But no one even saved her. They were just laughing at her and looking like she was a pathetic being. Amelia's breathing was becoming hard already as the water filled her throat. She still tried to crawl to the top surface to save herself. Fear was already filling her mind because she knew those people would never help her. Even if she drowned in this water, no one would care.
“What the– Amelia!” Bea, who had just come from the pack run, saw Amelia in the water. She pushed them away and jumped into the water without thinking twice. She took out Amelia and pulled her onto the land.
Amelia then coughed and almost vomited as she filled her chest with some air. She was pounding her chest hard to relieve her feelings.
“What is wrong with you?!” Bea said. She glared at the group and growled. Ready to fight everyone because of what they did to her friend.
“Easy, Bea. We're just having fun with this wolfless stinky loser!” John said. Then they all laughed except Nicolai. “And are you even trying to disobey our future alpha's orders?”
It just made Bea's blood boil more. She was about to say something again but Amelia held her hand.
“It’s okay, Bea. Don’t mind them. I’m okay,” Amelia said. Even though she was still breathing hard.
Bea looked at Amelia like she said a curse word. “You are okay? In that state of yours?”
“Girl! You are really boring like her,” Vera said, the girlfriend of Nicolai. She clung to Nicolai’s arms. “Can we go now, babe? It stinks here.”
Bea growled. She wanted to pull Vera’s hair and pushed her into the water too. But Amelia was still holding her arms. She tried to calm down because she thought that anytime she would shift into her wolf and she didn’t know what she would do anymore. She would gladly let her wolf put everyone in their places. Well, except for their future alpha.
Luckily, the group decided to leave the two of them because of Vera’s whining. Oh, how Bea hated Vera’s voice. She looked at Amelia.
“Come on, Amelia. Let’s get you to clean up your house.”
Amelia let Bea help her stand up. She was already shivering as she was wet from head to toe. When they reached Amelia’s house, Bea stopped in the living room and started sniffing.
“Do you smell that?”
Amelia frowned. “What smell?” She sniffed herself and she instantly regretted it because she just smelled the mud from the lake water. “I guess I really stink.”
“No. Not you.” Bea stared at the door near the kitchen. “Mate.”
Amelia just stared at Bea. Then the door opened and her brother went out, Marcus. She was surprised to see her brother going out of his room. She didn’t know that she had already come back from his training.
“Mate,” he also said while staring at Bea.
Amelia sighed. She finally understood what was happening. Apparently, her brother and best friend were mated to each other. She looked at the two that were now facing each other. She could see the bond from their eyes. Like they instantly fell in love with each other. A thing that she could never feel.
“I-I will leave you two,” Amelia said and ran upstairs to her room.
Chapter 2: Rejected by her mate
Amelia rushed to her room and left the two of them to talk with each other. But she hadn’t even gone to the bathroom when Bea suddenly went inside her room.
“Bea? What happened?” Amelia asked. Her eyes widened when she saw that Bea’s face was red. She looked furious and agitated. “Did you just reject him?”
Bea took a deep breath. “No! I wouldn’t do that.”
“Then what happened? Why are you like that?”
“I don’t know. You know I hated your brother because of how she treated you those past years, right? Instead of helping you out of your trauma. He pushed himself in training. Well, it’s not wrong. But you needed him. He is your only family.”
Amelia scratched her head. She remembered how Bea always nagged her brother because of ignoring her. That was why Bea was always at their house too. Because she felt sorry for her. She remembered how her brother focused on his training as a Gamma in their pack. Most of them go through the neighboring pack to train. He was the future Beta of their pack.
“It’s okay. Go on. Talk with him.”
Bea went in front of Amelia. “But what he did was unacceptable! Does he think that he was the only one who lost his mother? I want to make him learn first!”
Amelia smiled bitterly. She couldn’t think how grateful she was to her friend. Bea was like her sister but not in blood. “Thank you,” she said with teary eyes.
Bea smiled at her and wiped her cheeks. “Okay. Go on now. I will talk with him about it. If he doesn’t reconcile with you, I won’t hesitate to reject him.”
Amelia laughed. “You can really do that?”
“Yes! Our moon goddess would understand me for sure! And give me another mate that is not a jerk like your brother,” Bea said eagerly. Then they heard a loud knock on the door.
“Bea, please! Let’s talk this out first!” Marcus begged.
Amelia looked at Bea and nodded at her. “Go on.”
“Okay. Clean yourself up.”
Amelia nodded again. She waited for Bea to go out before going to her bathroom. There she let her cold body warm up from the water.
After a while, Bea and Marcus reconcile. Amelia learned that Bea had talked with Marcus about her. She was embarrassed but that was something she couldn’t stop. Bea always liked to protect her. And to her surprise, Marcus said yes. That he would slowly start building relationships again with her. She didn’t know how she could start a new relationship with her brother. But it was good.
The next day, it was Amelia’s birthday. A lot of her pack mates are turning seventeen this year too. And generally, everyone could start finding their mates. Everyone is looking forward to their seventeenth birthday, but not Amelia. Her wolf never showed up, so she couldn’t find her mate. But if there was one thing that she could wish for today. That was her family would be together again. She and her brother, with Bea at their side.
Amelia went for a walk that day. Bea and Marcus were marking themselves now so she had to leave. Plus, Bea said that she would be cooking for her because it was her birthday today. Amelia said that it was okay not to. But her brother insisted on it because Bea wanted it so.
Amelia was already in the woods. Since that event, when her mother died, she never got a chance to go out of their territory. Even in these woods, she doesn’t know why her feet brought her there. The sun was nice and the warmth she was feeling was comforting. Amelia looked up at the sky and smiled.
“This is relaxing,” she said. Without everyone, it was peaceful. That was when she smelled the most wonderful scent she had smelled in her entire life. Amelia stopped and sniffed. She tried to follow the trail of her scent until she reached the two large trees. There she stopped and saw Nicolai. He was lying down in a hammock while reading a book. He might have sensed her presence because he stopped too and put down his book. Amelia gasped as she stared at him. Nicolai was not wearing only his pants. The sunlight that hit his skin was making it shine. Nicolai was truly a majestic one. Everyone was dreaming of being his mate. Suddenly, her heart was pounding loudly. She could feel goosebumps trailing down her body.
‘Why do I feel like this?’
Finally, Nicolai looked at him. His expression was confused. He stood up and walked near her. The scent that Amelia was smelling grew stronger as Nicolai came near her.
“Mate?” Nicolai said while staring at her. His eyebrows were knitted and he kept on looking from head to toe.
Amelia was so confused. “Huh?” she said. But she could feel her stomach was already turning upside down. Like there were butterflies in her stomach. Though, she was too scared because she doesn’t know how to react to the situation. Then Nicolai suddenly glared at him and growled.
“You are my mate?!” he shouted.
That was when Amelia realized what was happening. She found her mate! But oh! It was their future alpha Nicolai! The future alpha of the Wood Mist pack! How could it happen? Why does she have a mate? Amelia was busy thinking about it. It was impossible! She was wolfless! And more importantly, why was it Nicolai?! Of all the wolves in their pack, it was him! Though, she had a mate. Then does this mean she also had her own wolf?
Amelia looked down and hugged herself. She could feel her heart pounding hard. She had a mate. She was not wolfless after all! She smiled and looked up at Nicolai again. But her happiness instantly went away when she saw the bitterness in his eyes. She could see that Nicolai didn’t like what was happening now.
‘Please… Moon Goddess. Please…’
“This is ridiculous!” Nicolai said. Though he was not talking with Amelia. He was talking with his wolf who was asking him to claim Amelia already. “I can’t be mated to a wolfless stinky woman!” He grunted. But the wolf inside him said that he couldn’t defy his fate. That he should still claim her because she was their mate. “Shut up, wolf! I can’t have a weak Luna like her!”
Hearing his words like a sharp knife slowly pierces Amelia’s heart. Her eyes watered and she bit her lips. Why did she even hope? Nicolai would never choose her. She was weak and wolfless. No one would want her as a mate. That was the realization that slowly slapped Amelia’s face.
“You!”
Amelia almost jumped when she heard Nicolai’s voice again. She was trying to hold off her tears but she couldn’t. Knowing that she had found her mate gave her a little hope that she could have her wolf. But now it was already slowly crashing in front of her.
Nicolai pointed his finger at Amelia. “Remember this. This never happened. You are not here. You never smelled me. Understood?!”
Amelia opened her mouth. She didn’t know how to answer him.
“Answer me!”
“Y-Yes.”
“I can’t have a Luna like you! You are worthless!”
Amelia cried. She looked down again. She wanted to run now but she couldn’t. She felt her body freeze at where she was standing. And Nicolai was tearing her into pieces without any remorse.
“I, future Alpha of the Wood Mist pack, Nicolai Green, reject you, Amelia White, as my mate and my future Luna of the Wood Mist pack!” he said with authority. There was even a small groan that came out of his throat.
Amelia’s mouth opened. She was already crying. She knew that she looked helpless now but she couldn’t help it! His words were like a sword slashing her heart!
“Amelia! Accept it now! Stop your crying because I will never accept you as my mate!”
Amelia covered her mouth and tried controlling her emotions. “I-I…”
“Now!” Nicolai growled.
“I-I, A-Amelia White of W-Wood Mist pack.” Amelia stopped and sniffed. “A-Accept your rejection as your mate and your f-future Luna,” she finally said while stuttering.
Amelia’s knees became soft. She fell to the ground while shaking. She looked at Nicolai, who was already sighing. He looked at her like trash that he finally threw.
“You can never tell anyone about this, okay?! I will ban you as soon as I become an alpha!” he said. He shook his head and took his shirt aggressively. Then he ran away from her like he was running away from his responsibility.
Amelia was left heartbroken. Her only hope was gone now. No one would accept her anymore. No matter how she tried. No one would want her. She was nothing and worthless!
‘Why? Moon Goddess? How could I pull out a mate bond when I am wolfless? And why did you let this happen? Are you really punishing me?’
Chapter 3: Her eighteenth birthday
Amelia didn’t know how long she was on the ground crying herself out. She was lucky because no one had come into the woods at that time. She could at least try to cheer herself up but she couldn’t. The rejection really caused her too much heartbreak.
It was already dark when she decided to go home. There she found Bea had already finished cooking for her. And they were waiting for her. Amelia tried to be happy for them. At least that time, she was happy even though it was fake. But seeing how in love her brother and best friend were just made her more heartbroken. That was what she could never have.
As the day passed, Amelia was like a zombie. She woke up every morning to fix their breakfast. While Marcus and Bea went on their run. Yes, Bea was already living with them when she turned eighteen. She was three months older than Amelia. And yes, Marcus and Amelia finally became okay because of the help of Bea.
After their breakfast, Amelia fixed herself for her school. She managed to keep her life going on for a year since the rejection happened. Though she could still smell Nicolai when he was around. But she ignored it because that was what he was doing too. She tried to think that her rejection of Nicolai to her was a blessing in disguise. His friends were not bullying her anymore. Like what they agreed on, no one learned about what happened that day. Even Bea, her best friend, didn’t know about it.
Tomorrow will be her eighteenth birthday. She had been thinking about it for months now. She thought she would finally leave their pack after her birthday. It would be dangerous because she would be rogue. But maybe she could find a new life in a human city. Maybe there, someone would accept her. Maybe there she would forget everything.
And besides, she still couldn’t forget about what Nicolai told her. He would ban her when he became the alpha of their pack. Before he does that, she will leave this place. And it decided.
Amelia’s day lasted like the other days. She managed to avoid her bullies as she prepared for the last day of her senior year. Then she went home and fixed their dinner. Seeing her brother happily talking with Bea was just making Amelia hesitate to leave. But it was the right thing to do. She doesn’t want them to keep worrying about her.
After their dinner, Amelia went to her room. She silently packed most of the important things she would need. Clothes, and her important papers. She counted the money she saved from her coin bank and she got five thousand dollars. It was not bad considering she got this from doing part-time at a restaurant for their packmates. She decided that she would go to a human city. She was wolfless after all.
When everything was ready, Amelia decided to have her final walk in their territory. She told Bea and Marcus that was preparing for later.
“Get back early, Sister,” said Marcus.
Amelia smiled and nodded at him. “Okay, brother.”
Amelia went out. The night was clear and the moon was full up high. She almost forgot her birthday would be a full moon. And the full moon was important for her packmates too. The Moon Goddess will bless everyone. Some would find their mate, some would shift, and some would be stronger. They also said that when it was a full moon, that was when the Moon Goddess would likely hear anyone's wishes and grant them.
Amelia smirked thinking of it. A lot of full moons had passed. Every full moon she asked the Moon Goddess to let her wolf out. But still nothing. She was still the wolfless, worthless, and pathetic Amelia who her mate rejected.
Amelia continued her walk until she reached the woods. She made it onto the lake and sat down at the end of the bridge. Amelia looked up and sighed. She inhaled the night breeze and it felt relaxing. She could already hear some howling. It’s still not midnight but some couldn’t wait.
‘How I wish I could feel how to run like a wolf too. It must be good,’ Amelia thought. But she instantly removed it from her mind. She will be gone here tomorrow. She shouldn’t think about it anymore.
Amelia suddenly heard a snapping behind her back. She turned her head back and saw darkness. It was coming from the woods. Amelia decided to stand up because it felt like something was calling her there. When she reached the woods, Amelia froze as she smelled the familiar scent. That scent that she loved but never wanted hers. It was him, her mate.
‘What was he doing here?’
Amelia panicked. She saw the enormous black wolf slowly walking toward her. He was large, like the usual alpha. His eyes were red. Nicolai’s wolf was also majestic, like his human form. Oh, how she wanted to caress his black fur. But she could hear the low rumbling growl coming from it. That was just adding more to Amelia’s terror. She wanted to run now because it would be foolish of her because he could easily get her. Amelia snapped when she heard her bones cracking up. She closed her eyes and bowed her head. She didn’t move even though she heard the footsteps going toward her.
“Why do I still smell you?!” Nicolai asked angrily. He then held Amelia’s shoulder and pinned her to the nearby tree.
Amelia grunted as she felt the hard tree on her back. Nicolai was also holding her aggressively, so she was hurting. But she decided to keep it to herself.
“It was so strong that my wolf took over to find you! I already rejected you!”
Amelia trembled. “P-Please… you are hurting me!”
“Shut up! What did you do? I rejected you and you accepted it! How is this possible?!”
“I don’t know! I didn’t do anything!” Amelia cried. “Please! You will break my arms!”
“Fuck it!”
Nicolai let her go. Amelia fell down on the ground. She crawled onto another tree and hugged herself while crying. She suddenly remembered when they were attacked by the rogues. Nicolai was like them. Ready to slash her throat.
“My wolf might have been pitying you! Fuck! You really don’t deserve to be in this pack! You are worthless! It should’ve been you who died, not your mother!”
Amelia shook her head. She was already shaking. What was wrong did she do with him? Yes, she was weak. As the years passed, she blamed herself. But this was so much that she could hear it from her fated mate. She panicked again when Nicolai marched on her.
“No!” Amelia screamed as he grabbed her arms again and pinned her to the trees. “P-Please! Stop!”
“Leave, Amelia. Go! You are a danger in this pack! You can’t take care of yourself, so you will endanger them, only! You are weak and a human! I will never have you as my Luna!” he shouted and then pushed her to the ground. “Leave before I humiliate you in front of our packmates. Leave if you want your dignity intact! Because I won’t hesitate to do it when I still see you at my ceremony!” he added, then started walking.
Amelia’s face was almost slammed into the ground. She was already planning on leaving this place. He shouldn’t be too hard on her like that. She had already moved on and decided to find her own peace. But why must he hurt her more? She stood up and forced herself to run away from the place.
Maybe Nicolai was right. She would be a danger to anyone who would be with her. Maybe running away was not a good idea. Maybe being in this life was really wrong. Her mother died because of her. She was wolfless. Her mate rejected her. There was nothing she could do about this place anymore. Maybe disappearing into the human world was not enough. Maybe she should really be gone.
Amelia found herself on a cliff. She could see the neighboring pack from her position. Below was a river where the water was flowing fast. She was still in their territory but already far away. Amelia was still crying out. Thinking that she was really worthless and should leave this lifetime. She looked at the river below her.
“Oh, mother! What should I do?! Moon Goddess! Why is this happening to me?!” she cried out. “Yes. Maybe this was the best.” Amelia sniffed. “I-I’m sorry, brother. I’m sorry, Bea. I’m sorry. I can’t do this anymore–”
“What are you doing?”
Amelia jumped when she heard a voice from behind her. She turned around but before she could see the man, she heard a rock rumbling. Then the place she was standing started to fall. Amelia screamed in terror as she felt her body slowly fall.
Chapter 4: Second chance mate or Rogue?
Amelia screamed in terror as she felt her body slowly fall off the cliff. She closed her eyes waiting for her body to feel the cold water and hard rock below. But instead, she felt someone grab her hands. She slowly opened her eyes and saw that she was hanging on the cliff. Amelia gasped as she saw deep down under her.
“Oh my god!” she cried. Then she grabbed her other hand to whoever was holding her.
“Don’t let go!” he shouted.
Amelia’s heart was already pounding. Suddenly, her sadness went away. She was ready to end her life earlier, but she was terrified now. Seeing how deep the river was below made her knees tremble. The man slowly pulled her up. Amelia was relieved and crawled away from the cliff when she was finally safe.
“Oh my god! I thought I was going to die already!”
The man chuckled. “Wasn’t that what you were doing earlier?”
Amelia held up her head. She saw a tall man smiling at him. He was covering the moon. That was why it looked like it was shining from behind. Amelia’s mouth opened and almost watered. This man was a goddess! His eyes were blue and his hair was white–no. It was silver. It was her first time seeing anyone with that hair color. Amelia stood up without moving her gaze away from him. Then suddenly, the man's smile went away, and he stared at her too. No one was talking and their breathing became hard. Slowly until they were breathing unitized.
Amelia felt his gaze warm. Almost feeling like it was hugging her and giving her warmth.
“Mate,” they both said.
“Mate,” a voice from Amelia’s head. Then it howled.
‘Who was that?’
‘Mate!’ it said again.
‘I have a wolf?!’
Amelia’s eyes widened. She touched her mouth as she gasped in surprise. She stepped back but she made the wrong step and she almost fell down. But her mate grabbed her by her waist and pulled her closer to him.
‘Mate!’ the voice kept on saying from Amelia’s head. She mindlessly smelled the man as she was close to him. ‘He smells good! Mine!’
‘Yeah,’ Amelia finally answered. Now it was talking. She was still confused about what was happening to her.
“W-Who are you?” she finally asked.
The man lowered his face. He closed his eyes and smelled Amelia. “Mine,” he growled.
Amelia gulped as he went to her neck. He breathed there, which made Amelia shiver. Then he kissed her cheek and went to her lips. Amelia blinked thrice until she finally realized what he was doing. She tried her best to push him away and step back. He looked at her confused.
‘What are you doing?! He is our mate!’ the voice protested and growled at her.
‘Shut up! I don’t know him!’
“Who are you?! I know everyone in my pack and I swear I never saw you!”
The man then stared at her. “Oh, right. I’m sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. I was stunned because of you.” Then he smiled sweetly at her.
Amelia felt weird but she tried to control herself. “Stop it! Are you a rogue?!”
“Rogue? No! I’m not a rogue!”
Amelia’s eyes widened as she remembered what happened to her mother. She slowly stepped back.
‘Hey, Amelia! What are you doing?!’ the thing inside her said. She didn’t even know if it was a wolf. But it howled so she would think that it was a wolf for now.
But Amelia did not answer her. When the man stepped forward at her, she immediately turned around and ran back to their pack. How could a rogue enter their territory?! It was impossible already because their Alpha put guards on the surroundings of their territory.
‘Amelia! Stop running! He is our mate!’
‘Shut up, will you?! I don’t even know if you are real!’
‘Of course, I am! I am Lily.’
Amelia shook her head. ‘Lily, whatever you are, just please shut up for now! I need to run away from him!’
‘No one is chasing you, duh? And I am not ‘whatever.’ I am your beast form.’
Amelia stopped running and looked back. Lily was right. No one was chasing her. Why didn't he chase her? She sat down on the ground to rest a bit. She still couldn’t believe what just happened.
She saw Nicolai again and learned that they still had a bond. Then she almost killed herself but she was saved by a man that turned out to be her mate too. Then a voice came out of her head and apparently was telling her it was her beast form.
“Oh my god! My mind will explode!” Amelia looked up at the sky. “What is happening, Moon Goddess? Why do I have two mates? And why do I have a beast instead of a wolf? Oh, god! I don’t know what to think anymore!”
Amelia put her face on her palms. She was so confused and didn't know what to do.
‘Maybe start by walking now and going home. You looked stressed already. It’s your birthday, Amelia. Happy birthday to you.’
Amelia rested her back on the tree. ‘Yeah. It’s my birthday now for sure. But why did you just come out now? I mean. What kind of a beast are you? Lycan?’
‘Ahm. Probably.’
“Oh my god. The ones who killed my mother were Lycans!”
‘Yeah, I know. And our new mate was a Lycan too.’
Amelia gasped. Was that the reason why she did not have her wolf? Because she was not a wolf but a Lycan? Was it also the reason why those rogues killed her mother? But why? And how? Her mother and father were werewolves. Even her big brother was a wolf! How could it be that they were wolves and she was a Lycan? More questions were raised in Amelia’s mind. Everything was too much for her. So she decided to follow Lily’s advice. She went home to their house. Luckily, Marcus and Bea were not in their house already. She silently went to her room and laid her body on her bed. She sighed and closed her eyes.
‘Looks like I’ll be a rogue tomorrow. Should I go find my second mate instead? I should’ve at least gotten his name.’
Chapter 5: Her twin mates
Before Marcus and Bea woke up, Amelia decided to go. She left a note at her study table for them. She was giving her blessings to them and telling them that she'd be okay and to not find her.
The whole pack was still sleeping and the sky was still dark. Amelia inhaled the morning breeze as she walked outside.
“I’ll be fine,” she whispered. She doesn’t know what will wait for him in the human city. But this was the best. She doesn’t want to cause any harm to their pack.
‘You are crazy, Amelia! You can’t go!’
Amelia sighed. Her wolf–beast had been telling her not to go. Lily was saying that she could sense their second mate was just near. But Amelia’s decision was already firm. She wanted to go.
‘This is the best, Lily. Just support me, please.’
‘But you have me, okay? You are not a human!’
‘But I am a Lycan, and it is still the same.’
Lily growled. ‘Then let’s go find our mate.’
Amelia shook her head. She decided not to answer Lily anymore. She kept on whining in her head. Sometimes she heard her growling and howling inside her like she wanted to go out. But they both don’t know how to do it. And for Amelia, it would be the best because she would live in a human city.
It was already morning when she reached the city. Amelia was amazed to see a lot of buildings in the city. There were cars too. She couldn’t help but smile because she thought she was going to another world. Though, this was not her first time coming here. It was her second time. The first one was when his mother was killed by rogues. That was why she also bowed not to get out of their pack again. It was also the reason why she was labeled weak by her packmates.
‘Now what? Do you know anything here? Because I’m not,’ said Lily. The disappointment was still in her voice.
‘I don’t know either. But let’s try to fit in.’
Lily growled and Amelia giggled. She walked along the side streets and wondered at the signage she was seeing. Everything was new to her. But when she reached a tall building, she suddenly smelled the familiar scent. Amelia sniffed and it trailed on her nostrils. The smell was just faint but she was sure. It was so good to smell like her…
‘Mate!’ Lily screamed in her mind.
“Huh?”
‘Mate! He is here, Amelia! He’s inside!’ Lily said happily.
Amelia stared at the building. It was true. The scent was coming from inside. She took a deep breath and nodded. ‘Fine. Let’s meet him,’ she agreed. Lily howled in her mind and it made Amelia smile. She just met her beast last night but they had already bonded.
Amelia entered the building. It was full of human people. She scanned the place trying to find the traces of her mate. Then she saw a small place where there were humans going in and out. Amelia went there.
‘This door is different,’ Amelia said. ‘I don’t know how to open it.’ She tried knocking on the door but it was not opening. There was no doorknob or such. Suddenly, she felt stupid because she was clueless about the human world. If Bea was here she would learn things for sure.
‘Mate! Don’t leave! He is coming!’
Amelia sniffed. She looked up as to where the scent was coming from. It was like falling from above. Amelia stepped back and waited. The scent was growing stronger until she heard a sound from the door and it opened. There she saw her mate coming out. Amelia opened her mouth and she froze again. He was looking at her as if he knew that she was there. He went out of the elevator and stopped in front of Amelia.
She suddenly felt her head spinning and the place was moving. Amelia loses consciousness. But before she falls to the ground, her mates catch her.
Blue laughed. “She might have been startled seeing us.”
Grey shook his head. “You really don’t talk with her, huh?”
“Yes. She ran away from me.”
“Come on. Let’s bring her above.”
Grey carried Amelia as a bride and Blue followed them. Grey and Blue Masson were Lycan Princes. Their names were followed by the color of their eyes. Their kingdom was the one that held all the packs around the country. They managed them and checked the status of every pack, may it be Wolves or Lycans. They were the ones who gave laws for their kind. And mostly, their kingdom was the only one that talked with humans in positions.
The twins were in the city to attend the appointment of the new Alpha of the Wood Mist pack. This pack was the biggest pack and their father, the king, wanted to know if the new alpha was capable.
“Looks like our mate was on the run. Are you sure she came from the Wood Mist pack?” Grey asked. He was checking Amelia’s bag and saw that there were some clothes inside.
Amelia was lying on the bed. Blue was sitting at his side and staring at her. “Yes, she is. I told you she ran there.” He licked his lips and sniffed Amelia. “She really smelled good.”
“There is something wrong going on with our mate. She was trying to kill herself too, you said.” Grey closed the bag and looked at Amelia. But to his surprise, Blue was already sniffing her and touching her hands. “Hey! Stop touching her! Let her rest!”
Blue growled and looked at Grey. “Why? I saw her first.”
“So, what? She is my mate too.”
Twin Lycans or werewolves always have one mate. Especially for the two of them, because their bond as twins was stronger than the others. They knew what each other was feeling. When one of them was hurt, the other one would feel the pain. They can also talk with each other in mind even if they were miles away. Actually, when Blue saw Amelia, Grey felt it and his beast was howling. Yes, even their Lycans had a strong bond with each other.
“Get ready now. I’m sure our mate was hungry when she woke up,” Grey said.
“Fine.” Blue groaned and kissed Amelia’s forehead. “See you later, our mate.”
Chapter 6: Claimed by her twin mates
‘Amelia, wake up!’
Amelia gasped and sat down as she came from drowning. She filled her lungs with more air as she looked around.
“Where am I, Lily?” she asked. She was in a room it a big window. The room looked beautiful and very organized. She felt like no one was using the room. Her bag was on a big couch at the end of the bed where she was lying down.
‘We’re in the room of our mates! You passed out when you saw them!’
Amelia frowned. Yes. She finally remembered it now. She smelled the scent of her mate earlier. And to her surprise, she doesn’t have only one mate but two! Amelia gasped and touched her mouth.
“Was it true? Do we have two new mates? Was it even possible? Lily! Answer me!” she asked. Amelia was already panicking because she had never heard of anyone having two mates.
‘Calm down, okay? Yes. Some wolves or Lycans can have two mates. Especially if they’re twins. Like our mates,’ Lily explained. ‘I can’t wait to see them again!’
“They are twins? Seriously?”
‘Yes. They are.’
Amelia sighed and lay on the bed again. She stared at the ceiling while her hands were on her forehead. She couldn’t believe that this was happening to her. Her alpha mate rejected her twice but she got two-second mates in return. How can she have two mates?! It was really ridiculous to think. How can she even manage two mates?
‘It’s okay. Everything will be okay when we talk with them. Just please don’t pass out again.’
Amelia rolled her eyes. “Where are they?”
‘I don’t know. But I heard they were preparing something for you.’
“Really?”
That was when the door at her side opened and, lo, her two mates entered while pushing a tray. Amelia sat down and watched them. She still couldn’t believe that these two men were her mates.
‘Oh, Moon Goddess! I have two mates and they were like goddesses themselves too! I don't know what to say!’ Amelia exclaimed in her mind. Lily giggled and agreed with her.
“You’re awake!” said Blue. Then he immediately sat down on the right side of Amelia.
“You’re scaring her, Blue. We don’t want her to pass out again,” Grey warned him. He remained standing at the end of the bed on the left side. But his eyes were glued to Amelia’s face. Staring at her like he was remembering every trace of her.
Amelia gulped and winced. She flickered as Blue sniffed her neck again. Amelia repulsed and stood up out of bed.
“Okay! Wait! I-I’m freaking out!”
Grey chuckled. “Yes. I could see that.” He slowly walked and stopped in front of Amelia.
Amelia felt her heartbeat stop when Grey caressed her left cheek with the back of his palm. It felt so good that she closed her eyes.
“W-Were you two really my mate?” she asked in her calm voice. She saw that Blue was at her side too. Blue touched her hand and kissed the back of her palm. It was giving her goosebumps but she tried to calm her nerves.
“Yes. I am Grey, and he is Blue. You can tell by looking into our eyes.”
Amelia gulped and looked at them. It was true. The man in front of her whose name was Grey had deep gray eyes. And the man on her side, the man he saw last night, was Blue. His eyes were blue. But they have the same silver hair and everything.
“But how?”
“We are twins,” Blue answered. “And twins share everything, even with their mates.”
She was still trying to grasp her situation. Two handsome mates. Not just any mates, but they were twins. Amelia didn’t know how it became possible, but at least she had someone now. She felt Grey kiss her on her neck.
“You smell so good, Mate.”
“Yeah,” Blue agreed. He continued kissing Amelia’s hand going up. While Grey kept on kissing her neck.
Amelia couldn’t help but let out a soft moan as she felt their kisses on her body. Blue held her cheek and suddenly kissed her lips. Amelia was surprised but she remained standing. At first, Blue was kissing her softly. She closed her eyes and felt everything. Grey was tracing his hands on her back. Amelia suddenly felt her temperature rise. Her breathing became hard, especially since Blue was kissing her aggressively already.
“Mine,” said Grey, and kissed Amelia’s neck.
“Mine,” said Blue, and kissed Amelia more passionately. Then his lips went to her neck too.
Amelia couldn’t help but moan. She felt she was already floating in happiness. She held on to their necks as the twins kept on licking her neck.
‘Say it! Mine!’ said Lily in her mind.
Amelia moaned again as she slowly felt a sharp thing on her skin. “Mine…” said Amelia. Then she felt their marking on her at the same time. At first, it stung her, then slowly it made her feel good. Amelia moaned as they continued marking her. No, she didn’t stop them. She willingly let them mark her. She doesn’t know how long it takes place. When she realized it, she was already lying on the bed. Blue was on her left side and Grey was on her right side. They both kissed her neck and massaged her stomach.
“C-Can we do it, Mate?” Blue asked. He was already hard but controlling himself.
“What?” Amelia asked back as she tried to fill her lungs with more air. The room was freezing but she was sweating. There was something in her that wanted to come out. And she could feel her down wetting too.
Grey turned Amelia’s head to him and kissed her lips. Then he stared into her eyes like he was looking for an answer. “You’re a virgin.” He smiled. “Very nice.”
“H-Huh?”
Grey kissed her again and sat down. He tapped Blue’s shoulder. “Stop it. Let’s wait until she’s ready.”
Blue groaned and lay on the bed.
Amelia sat down and rested her back on the headboard. “What do you mean?”
‘They were talking about sex, Amelia,’ Lily answered.
Amelia’s eyes widened and she looked at the two of them. She could see the desires flaming from their eyes. She felt her cheeks turn red and bowed her head. ‘That’s why it’s so hot.’
Blue chuckled. “It’s okay, Mate.” He took Amelia’s hand and pinched it. “What was your name? We marked you already but you haven’t told us your name.”
“Amelia.”
“Amelia. Interesting name.” Grey stood up. “You should eat now. I could hear your stomach rumbling.”
Amelia winced and slowly held her stomach. “Really? I’m sorry. I haven’t eaten my breakfast.”
Blue stood up and took the tray that he turned into a small table from the cart they brought. Then he put it in front of Amelia.
Amelia was amazed. She never had breakfast in bed. When Blue removed the cover, she saw a big cut of steak on the plate. She could feel her saliva flowing as she smelled the scent of the food in front of her.
“Do you want me to feed you?” Blue asked.
“Huh? No! I can do it.” Amelia took the knife and fork from Blue. “I-I can feed myself,” she said. She was not used to anyone being too kind to her except for Bea. But Blue took the knife again.
“Okay. But let me slice this for you.”
Amelia couldn’t do anything but let Blue do it. “Thank you.”
“You are our mate. You’ll be our princess now,” Blue said and winked at her.
“My twin told me that you were crying last night when he saw you. What happened to you?” Grey asked. He was putting juice in a glass from a pitcher. Then he went to bed again and gave the glass to her. “Were you on the run?”
“Ahm. I-It’s a long story. But you two are not rogues, right?” she asked instead.
Grey frowned. ‘She doesn’t have any idea about us,’ he mind linked to Blue.
‘I think so. Should we tell her?’
‘Okay.’
“We are not rogues, mate. We are princes.”
“Princes?” Amelia's eyes widened. “Oh, my Goddess! Did you hear that?!” she said. But she instantly regretted it when she realized that she had said it instead of just telling Lily. She put her palms on her face as she heard their chuckles.
‘I knew it! I could smell royalty from their blood!’ Lily said.
“It’s okay, love. Here. Eat your meal already.” Blue put down the knife and removed Amelia’s hands from her face.
“I-I’m sorry. A lot of things are happening and… it’s hard for me to process it all.”
“We understand,” Grey answered.
Amelia smiled. She could see that Grey was the one who was more formal. Just like a prince. Blue was formal too. But not like Grey looks firm. Blue was softer and always brimming with his smile.
“Thank you.”
“You are from the Wood Mist pack, right? What are you doing here with your bag?” Blue.
Amelia suddenly remembered why she was away. “Ah, yes. I’m from the Wood Mist pack. I was… ahh…”
Grey frowned. “What is going on there? Are you planning on leaving your pack? Did they just ban you?”
Amelia stared at Grey. She could see the anger slowly arising from his eyes.
“Yes. You were crying last night. What happened?”
Amelia then looked at Blue. Like his twin, Blue’s eyes were becoming dark because of anger. Amelia immediately shook her head. “N-No! No. It’s not like that.”
“Then what is it?”
‘Tell them, Amelia. They are your mates and your princes. They could help you.’
Amelia sighed. “T-The truth is, yes. I was running away from our pack.”
“What?!” Grey growled. “Why?!”
‘Tell them.’
“T-Their next alpha will not want me there.”
“Did you do something?” Blue asked.
She shook her head. “He was my first mate. But he rejected me.” The twins did not say any words. But Amelia could feel the tension from their expressions. “I-It’s okay. You know. He will not want a Luna that is wolfless.”
“Because you are not a wolf!” Blue said. His tone was full of anger.
Grey stood up. “Finish your meal and we will go to that pack now,” he said. His voice was calm but his eyes were telling a different emotion.
Amelia gulped and looked down. She suddenly felt nervous because of their reactions. ‘Oh, Moon Goddess. I hope my mates won’t hurt anyone because of me.’
Chapter 7: She's a Lycan
The twins were silent as they were riding the car getting to their pack. Amelia kept on praying to the Moon Goddess that these two wouldn’t do anything when they arrived. She could see how it angered them to hear what they had just said. Grey was driving and Blue was in the passenger seat. Amelia was on her back, looking down and thinking about what she should do.
‘I should’ve told them about it,’ Amelia said.
‘Why not? Now, that Alpha's ex-mate of ours will know the consequences of what he did to you.’
‘But, Lily. You know the reason why he did that. And I understand it, I am wolfless.’
Lily groaned. ‘Because I am not a wolf!’
‘I know. But I should tell them about it.’
‘Fine.’
Amelia cleared her throat. “Ahm. Blue. Grey. What are you doing with our pack?”
Blue looked at Amelia from the rear-view mirror. “We were supposed to check out your pack and attend the appointment of your new alpha. But it looks like your new alpha was not capable.”
“What do you mean?”
“We will not let him be an alpha. He doesn’t deserve it,” Grey answered.
Amelia’s mouth opened. She held onto the chair and looked at them. “What? This is not because of me, right?”
“It is, my love,” Blue smiled at her and caressed her cheek. Then his eyes became serious again.
“Please. It’s not what you think. N-Nicolai is supposed to be the next alpha of our pack. He cannot have a Luna that is weak like me.” Amelia gasped. She almost fell out of her chair when Grey stopped the car. “Hey!” she exclaimed.
“Are you okay?” Blue asked worriedly. “What are you doing, Grey? You’ll hurt her!”
Grey looked at Amelia. “You are not weak, Amelia!” he roared.
“O-Oh… But I was wolfless. Yeah! I know I am a Lycan. But everyone thought I was wolfless. Even me. So…”
“So you mean they are not treating you well in that pack?” Grey asked.
Amelia couldn’t answer him because it was true. She was lucky that they did not make her a slave. But it was the same thing because even her own brother had not talked with her for years.
“That pack will really learn hard!” Grey said and started the car again.
“P-Please. I-I understand that you two are being protective of me. I don’t want any trouble.”
Blue sighed. “Yeah. We should hear her out, brother.”
“But she is our mate! Their next queen!”
“No one knows that I was one before,” Amelia said.
That was when Grey softened. She was right. They don't even know her true identity and the reason why her packmates were like that to her.
“Fine. But what happened? What did you do?”
“You can tell us, love. Don’t worry,” Blue affirmed.
Amelia felt a bit relieved but she was still worried. Thought they were right. They'd understand her more if she told them everything.
“I was ten when my mother died. She saved me from the rogues. Everyone was blaming me because of it.” Amelia’s voice began to crack as she remembered her mother. “T-Then when I was supposed to shift, my wolf never came out. That’s when everyone said I was weak. The blames became frequent and no one wanted to be with me except my best friend. I understand Nicolai, as an alpha, he needs a strong Luna to help him with our pack. And I was not the kind of luna he needed.”
Blue shook his head. “He will regret that he rejected you. Now, you are ours. He can never get you back. Unless he wanted to die.”
“So, you never shifted? Even in your Lycan form?”
Amelia nodded at Grey. “Yes. I don’t know how. And I am confused. My mother was a wolf and my brother was. Was it possible?”
Grey frowned and looked at Blue. Then he looked in front again. “How about your father?”
“Wolf too. But he died before I even had consciousness in the world.”
“You might be adopted,” said Blue.
“Am I?” Amelia exclaimed.
“You can never be a Lycan if your parents are wolves.”
“We will ask your Alpha when we reach there,” Grey answered.
Amelia was silent. Her mother loved her very much when she was alive. Though she remembered that she always said that there were some questions that would not have answers yet. But soon it will be answered at the right time by the right people. Those lines always felt mysterious to her. She suddenly felt sad. She was already alone even if she didn't know what she really was.
‘It’s okay, Amelia. I’m here. Our mates are here for us too. We are not alone anymore,’ Lily said.
‘Yeah. That’s more important. But it will be great to know about my identity.’
‘Ask them instead if they could help you shift.’
“Ahm. Can you two help me shift?”
Blue looked at Amelia. “Of course. We will do it later.” He winked at Amelia and it made her blush.
“T-Thank you.” Amelia looked out of the window. They were near their pack village. “You wouldn’t punish my pack, right?”
Grey let out a deep breath. “I can’t promise.”
“Please,” Amelia begged, and looked at Grey from the rear-view mirror. She saw that his eyes softened.
“Okay. But he should still learn his lessons.”
Amelia smiled. “Thank you!” she said happily. At least she was assured that there would be no violence and such. She couldn’t afford it even though Nicolai hurt her.
The car stopped in the parking lot of their village. Blue opened the door for her and she went out. She saw that Grey was already holding her bag for her. She wanted to get it but Grey didn’t let her. They were now walking on the side street. Amelia was in the middle of the twins. She felt weird because they were like guarding her against danger. There was no danger in their pack except for the glaring of her packmates. But when they saw the twin's faces, they immediately bowed their heads.
“Amelia!”
Amelia heard a voice from afar. She saw Bea running to them and the twins immediately covered her.
“Who are you?”
“What do you need from her?!”
Bea stopped and stared at them in confusion. She was ready to fight when she realized who the men in front of her were. Her eyes widened and bowed her head. “Oh, princes! I am sorry! H-Her… Amelia is my friend!”
Amelia cleared her throat. “That’s right. Please. It’s okay.” The twins looked at her. Then they stepped to the side to let Bea go to Amelia.
“I’m sorry. We thought she was after you,” Blue explained.
Bea immediately went to Amelia and slightly pulled her. “What was that? Where have you been? We’ve been looking for you!”
“I-It’s a long story, Bea. Thank you.”
Grey harrumphed. “Will you be okay if we leave you to her now?”
Amelia looked at them. “Yes. Of course.” She smiled. “You can do your affairs first.”
The twins nodded. Then they looked at Bea. “Please take care of our mate,” Grey said.
Bea’s eyes widened. She nodded in confusion. “Y-Yes, my prince.”
“We will see you later.” Blue stared at Amelia.
Amelia took her bag from Grey, then the two went their way.
“What was that?! You are mated with princes?!” Bea exclaimed.
Amelia immediately covered her mouth. “Ssh! Let’s go home. I will explain it to you there.”
Chapter 8: Bullied
Amelia and Bea went home to their house. Marcus was there already waiting for them. Inside, Amelia explained to them what happened to her earlier and why she was with the twin princes. And how she ran away from their pack.
“Never do that again, Amelia! You don’t know how much you made us worried!” Marcus said. His face was red already and they could hear a growl coming out of his throat.
“I-I’m sorry, Brother. My mind was clouded. I just want to run away from this place.”
“But why, Amelia? What did your bullies tell you? I swear I will report them to Alpha Chase now!” Bea exclaimed.
“Yes! So what if you’re wolfless? We don’t care! You are my sister and you should be here!”
Amelia looked away. She still had yet to tell them about what Nicolai did to her. She was thinking twice because Nicolai would be their next alpha.
“Yes. I’m wolfless, brother. Because I am a Lycan. Do you know about this? Was our father a Lycan?” Amelia said. She couldn’t tell Nicolai.
Marcus frowned. He sniffed her. “Was it you that we are smelling? Did you shift already?”
“No? But she came out last night and heard her in my mind only. My mates are saying that I am a Lycan.”
“Is it possible, Marcus?” Bea asked.
Marcus shook his head. “No. Our parents are werewolves. It’s impossible that you will come out as a Lycan. We also don’t have an ancestor that was a Lycan.”
Amelia smiled bitterly. “Then I am adopted after all.” That must be the reason why she always felt alone. She doesn’t have any family in this pack. She was a rogue but inside a pack.
“That's… I’m not sure actually. I was with our father while hunting some rogues. I was away for a year. I went home and said that you are with my mother already. She said you are my sister,” Marcus explained. That was the time, too, when their father died hunting.
Amelia had a great feeling that she was adopted. But how? Why would their mother hide it from her? Or her brother? And who were her birth parents? Why did they leave her alone in this pack?
“Let’s ask Alpha Chase,” Bea suggested. “He will know it for sure.”
Marcus nodded. “Yes. That’s right. If there is someone who knows everything happening to our pack, it was him, our Alpha.”
Bea went to Amelia’s side and slightly scrubbed her back with her hand. “It’s okay, Amelia. We don’t care who you are. You’re still my best friend, Amelia. And you are my mate’s sister.”
Amelia smiled. Her eyes started to water. “I’m really sorry I ran away.”
“Oh… come here!” Bea gave her a hug. “Happy birthday!”
Amelia chuckled while crying. A lot had happened to her and she forgot that it was still her birthday today.
“Yes, sister. Happy birthday.”
“Thank you.”
Amelia cleaned herself after talking with her brother and sister. Yes, she thought that it should be right to call Bea her sister now. Since they were already a family. Also, next month, they will be married. She chose to wear her red dress and let her black hair loose. Bea was asking her to go to a human shopping mall to buy a new dress for the appointment of the new alpha. They also have a mall inside their pack village. But it was small and Bea said that there were more beautiful dresses in the human city. That was Bea. She loved beautiful things. And this was the first time that Bea asked her to leave their village.
“I should tell my mates first that we are going,” Amelia told Bea. They were already in the living room and ready to go out of the house.
Bea was wearing a black flowery dress. Her hair was tied up and she was wearing make-up too. “It’s okay. Your brother is with them. He will tell the princes.”
Amelia nodded. “Okay.”
“Hmm… Did they mark you already?”
“Yes. Earlier.”
Bea’s eyes widened. She went to Amelia’s side and clung to her arms. “I’m so happy for you, Amelia! For sure, everyone would be jealous of you!”
Amelia chuckled. “I don’t care, Bea. I’m just happy now that, finally, I felt someone needed them. Though, I did not expect them to be twins.” They walked outside. “Have you heard of any wolf having two mates?”
“Well, based on school, yes. There are some wolves or Lycans that could have more than one mate. But it is a really rare occasion. Unless they are twins like your mates.”
Amelia was silenced. “Oh, yes. I forgot.”
They had a subject in school about Lycanthropy. They talk there about all the wolves and Lycans. They even learned from it that there were Lycans and wolves who had powers. She almost forgot about it because she was shocked it had been earlier.
‘I miss our mates, Amelia. We should go to them instead,’ Lily said.
‘They are busy, Lily. Let’s enjoy our time with Bea first. Later, I will ask them to help me shift so you could run,’ she explained to her beast. Lily then howled in agreement.
Amelia smiled and they continued walking. She was telling her about what she saw in the human city. Bea kept on laughing at her but in a funny way. Amelia also couldn’t help but laugh, remembering that the door she saw was called an elevator. How innocent could she be? But their happiness stopped when they finally reached the small terminal in their village. Using the bus that is owned by their pack too, will send them to the human city. Vera and her friends were there too.
“Well. Well. Are you going to the human city because you finally realized that you belong there?” Vera mocked Amelia. Then her friends laughed.
Amelia heard Lily growl. ‘If I come out, I will take her out first!’
“What do you want, Vera?” Bea said. “Are you bored again?”
Vera glared at Bea. “Shut up! Why are you always taking her side? She was a nobody!”
Bea opened her mouth but Amelia held her arms. “It’s okay,” she whispered. “I am just accompanying Bea, Vera. Just let us go.”
Vera smirked. “You have guts now?” Vera stepped forward to Amelia. Her friends took Bea and held her arms.
“What are you doing?! Let me go!” Bea said.
Vera suddenly held Amelia’s neck and pinned her to the side of the bus. Amelia struggled. But because she hadn’t shifted yet, she was still weak and couldn’t do anything to Vera. Bea kept on shouting too.
“You don’t get to talk in this pack, weakling!”
Amelia tried to remove her hand. She could feel Vera’s nails slowly piercing her skin. It was also making her breathe hard and slowly, her vision went blurry. But she saw a familiar figure behind Vera.
“What is going on here?”
Chapter 9: No one hurts our mate
Amelia tried to remove her hand. She could feel Vera’s nails slowly piercing her skin. It was also making her breathe hard and slowly, her vision went blurry. But she saw a familiar figure behind Vera.
It was Nicolai, standing firm with a brimming authoritative aura. He looked at Vera’s friend who was holding Bea. The two immediately let go of Bea.
“Let her go!” Bea shouted.
“Vera,” Nicolai called his chosen mate.
Vera turned her head and saw Nicolai. Her eyes widened and she immediately let go of Amelia. “N-Nicolai!”
“Amelia!” Bea went to Amelia and helped her. She was coughing. “It’s okay now. Breathe.”
“What is going on here?”
Vera bit her lips. She looked at Nicolai and she saw that he was staring at Amelia. She frowned and went to Nicolai’s side. “Babe! They are being mean to me! They said I am not capable of being Luna because I am not your fated mate.” Vera pouted her lips and held onto Nicola’s arm.
Nicolai growled and glared at Amelia. “Did you say that?”
“No!” Bea answered.
“Shut up, wolf! You are not the one that the next alpha is asking!” Vera said.
Bea growled. If it was not Nicolai, she would shift now and claw Vera. “Because it’s not–”
“Stop!” Nicolai shouted and went in front of Amelia. She groaned when he held her arms and pinned her to the bus. “Did you tell them anything?”
Amelia’s eyes widened. “I-I didn’t! We were just going to the human city but–”
“Liar!” Vera shouted.
Because of what was happening at the terminal, a lot of wolves saw it. The twins were going to follow Amelia to the human city. They saw that Nicolai was pinning Amelia on the bus.
“Our mate!” Blue said. He immediately ran and pushed Nicolai. His claws went out and growled at them. While Amelia was behind him trying to fix her breathing.
Grey also ran to the place and held Nicolai by the neck and pinned him on a post. They were shocked to see that their next alpha was pinned on the post.
“What do you think you’re doing to your next queen?!”
Vera’s eyes widened. She stared at the two men who had just come. “T-They are the princes!” All of them bowed at the Grey and Blue.
Amelia managed to calm herself out. Her eyes widened seeing that Grey was holding Nicolai by the neck. Nicolai was the next alpha that was initially strong. But the werewolf was never a match to a Lycan. Especially since Blue was in front of her and was alert too. She saw that Vera and her friends were now trembling while kneeling. She doesn’t want anyone to get hurt because of her.
“G-Grey! Stop!” Amelia held on to Blue. She was relieved when Grey let go of Nicolai. But he remained growling at him. “Grey, please!”
Grey groaned and glared at Nicolai. “You are lucky because it was a request from our mate. If you dare touch her again, I won’t think twice about cutting your throat!”
Nicolai’s eyes widened. He looked at Amelia. “Y-Your mate?”
“Yes! Is there anything wrong with that?”
Nicolai couldn’t believe that Amelia had found her second mate. But he knew that it would be a fool of him if he fought these princes. Nicolai growled in submission. His authoritative aura suddenly went away. He might be the next alpha, but his strength was nowhere compared to those princes. He looked at Vera and pulled her out of the scene without saying anything. Her friends followed them.
Blue then calmed down and turned to Amelia. “Are you okay?” He helped her stand up. He also removed the dirt and went to her dress. Everyone was shocked to see how affectionate Blue was to Amelia.
Amelia blushed. She nodded. “I am. Thank you.”
“What happened here?” Grey asked.
Bea went to Amelia’s side. She was looking at Vera’s group walking away from them. “They always bully Amelia. This is our everyday life that I am always trying to stop. I don’t know why they keep on doing this to her.”
“I should’ve punished them!” said Grey.
“It’s okay, Grey. I don’t want them to have more reason to hate me.”
“But it’s not your fault, Amelia!” Bea exclaimed. She held Amelia’s hand. “You should fight them!”
Amelia smiled bitterly. “How can I even fight our soon-to-be alpha?”
“I can’t believe this. Let’s go,” Blue said.
Grey followed Blue with his stares. He was going to the woods. He instantly learned what he was going to do. “But it’s still the afternoon.”
“Lycans are different from wolves. You know that, brother.”
Amelia and Bea looked at each other.
“What does he mean?” Amelia asked Grey.
Grey smiled at Amelia. “Let’s follow him.” Then he pointed his hand in the direction. “Oh, I think your friend shouldn’t come with us.”
“Huh? Why?”
Grey looked at Bea. “I hope it’s okay for you.”
“W-Well, it is. But I don’t want to leave Amelia if she doesn’t want to.” Bea looked at Amelia.
‘It’s okay, Amelia. You can trust our mates,’ Lily said from Amelia’s mind.
Amelia was still confused. She tightened her grip on Bea. She doesn’t want her friend to go. But Lily was right. They have two mates now. So, she must at least trust them.
“It’s okay, Bea. Let’s meet again later.”
“Okay. Take care.”
Bea left. Then Amelia looked at Grey and nodded. Amelia suddenly felt nervous as they started walking. She could still feel Vera’s hand on her neck. Her skin still stings because of it. Now she was hyperventilating again because of something she felt they were going to do. She was still adjusting to her new life. Having mates was something she never expected in her life.
The four of them reach the woods. The place was clear and they could only hear the bird's noises from afar.
“What are we going to do here, Blue?” Amelia asked.
Blue removed his jacket. Amelia just stared at him as he slowly removed his clothes. Her eyes widened when she saw that Grey was also removing his clothes. She immediately turned around as she felt the same feeling she was having earlier.
‘What are they doing?!’
‘Just trust them.’
“We, Lycans, are different from the wolves, our mates. We can shift to our beast anytime we want,” said Blue.
“You might want to remove your clothes too. Or let it rip out.” Grey.
Amelia frowned. “Will I transform now?” she asked. Then Grey suddenly went to her front. Her eyes widened and she didn't even dare to look down. She stepped back but she felt Blue behind her too. “I-I don’t know how to.”
Blue touched the strap of Amelia’s dress. “Remember, Amelia. You are not weak. You are not worthless. You are special,” he whispered to Amelia’s ears. Then he slowly pulled down the zipper of Amelia’s dress.
Amelia gulped as her breathing became hard. Blue’s words were like music to her ears. She heard this from Bea but it felt good when it came from her mate. She gasped as she felt her body covered by the cold afternoon breeze. There she noticed that her dress had already fallen down. A soft moan went out of her throat when Blue kissed her shoulder.
Grey touched Amelia’s chin and locked her eyes on his. He kissed her lips. “Close your eyes, mate. Control your feelings. Feel your beast and let her take over your body. Ask her to be one of you and let her come out.”
“It might hurt you a bit for your first time. But we are here for you, mate.” Blue kissed Amelia’s neck.
Amelia’s mouth opened as she felt a thousand sensations coming from Blue’s kiss. She felt Grey’s warmth in her hands. Then she followed Grey’s instructions. Amelia closed her eyes and thought of Lily. Then she felt her heartbeat slow down. There she saw from her mind Lily’s form. A red Lycan. She smiled as their eyes locked. Those dark purple eyes. Her beast looked different from the Lycans she knew. Lily howled and when Amelia came back to her senses, she saw that her hands were covered by red fur.
‘Oh my God, Lily! We transformed!’ Amelia said happily.
“Whoa! You are enormous!” Blue laughed. Then he also transformed into a white Lycan. Grey also joined and his fur was brown.
Amelia giggled and then let Lily run. Her mates followed her as they let their beasts play in the woods. Amelia couldn’t contain her happiness. Finally, after waiting all her life. She thought that she was a nobody. She thought she was a weakling. But surprisingly, she was a Lycan and she just shifted to her form. And it is all thanks to her twin mates. Her two mates.
‘Run, Lily, run!’ Amelia shouted in her mind while laughing with happiness.
Chapter 10: The Red Lycan
Amelia was giggling as she walked with her mates out of the woods. She was over the moon now that she could shift to her beast. She could feel Lily was delighted too that she kept howling and running in her mind. She was beautiful in her eyes.
“You were great, love,” Blue said. He was holding Amelia’s right hand.
“True. You surprised us. And it was our first time seeing a red Lycan.” Grey was on her left side.
Amelia blushed. The twins had been praising her because of her fast shifting. Usually, the first shifting of a Lycan takes up to three hours. But Amelia almost didn’t feel her shifting. Like it was not her first time.
“Is my fur not right?”
“No. There’s nothing wrong with your fur. You were gorgeous earlier. We could see how excited our beast was seeing yours.” Blue stared at Amelia’s hair. “We love your new hair color.”
When Amelia shifted back to her human form, the color of her hair became dark red like blood. The same color as her fur.
“And please stop doubting yourself now, mate. You are strong. You are special.” –Grey.
Amelia sighed. “I’m sorry. I’ll get used to it.” She thought that it was true. Also, after her shift, she felt that she became stronger than before. She usually felt weaker than anyone before. But now, she was still worried but more confident already.
“You better be.”
Amelia stopped when she noticed that they were entering the pack house. The twins stared at her in confusion. “I… never entered this place,” she said.
Since Amelia was treated as an outcast, she never got a chance to enter the pack house. This house was the largest building in their pack village. Because the family of Alpha and Beta lived here. There was a gathering hall too in the basement for the pack meetings. She couldn’t imagine how big this house was.
Grey pinched her palm. “It’s okay. You should be where we are. And besides, we need to ask your alpha about your identity. How a Lycan like you was in this wolf pack.”
“Yeah. My brother said that Alpha Chase must know about it.” Amelia looked at the house again. “But I think they wouldn't like me inside.”
“It's okay.”
Amelia let the twins take her. As they entered the pack house, she could feel the glarings of her packmates. Some were surprised to see her new looks. She glows more because of her red hair. Amelia was looking down only, but Grey asked her to be proud. She tried too. On the stairs, she saw Vera and Nicolai. They stopped and moved to the side. She could see the jealousy in Vera’s eyes. But when she looked at Nicolai, she frowned as she saw the amusement of it. Why would he? Does he still feel the bond? Because of her? No matter how long she stared at him, she couldn’t feel the bond anymore. The reason why she almost killed herself was gone.
“Princes,” Nicolai called. “Alpha Chase is already waiting in his office. We will guide you there.”
“Okay.”
Nicolai turned his back and walked in front of them. The three of them followed them to the Alpha’s office. It was on the top floor of the house. Amelia hid her amusement. It's just like how Bea describes it to her. The top floor had a lot of rooms since they prepared it for their important guests like the twins. They walked to the hallway and stopped when they reached the last room. Nicolai knocked and opened the door.
“Father, the princes are here,” Nicolai announced.
“Come in,” said the authoritative voice from inside.
It was Alpha Chase Nicolai’s father. Amelia always saw him, especially when her mother was still alive. Alpha Chase was already old. His gray hair was already showing and the wrinkles beside his eyes were visible already. But despite this, everyone could still see how masculine and graceful he was. Though Alpha Chase wasn’t like her packmates, that was hard for her. He was always kind and fair to her.
“Prince Grey. Prince Blue. Welcome!” Alpha Chase went in front of the two princes and shook hands with them. Then his gaze went to Amelia. “Amelia? She was the one you were talking about earlier?”
“Yes, Alpha. She is Amelia. Our mate.”
Amelia forced a smile and bowed to Alpha Chase.
“Is it really you?” Alpha Chase sniffed at Amelia. “You have already shifted. Was your hair always red?”
Amelia shook her head. “No, Alpha. My beast's fur was colored red. I think that was the reason why my hair became red.”
“What?!” Alpha Chase said.
Amelia looked at her mates and then at Alpha Chase. “Was it wrong?”
“Why?” Grey and Blue asked.
Alpha Chase averted his gaze. The shock and worriedness can be seen in his expression. But it was just for a second. He sighed and put his hand on Amelia’s shoulder. He guided her to the chair next to his table. The twins followed and sat down in front of Amelia.
“You can go out now, Nicolai. Please close the door.”
“Yes, Alpha.” Nicolai bowed and went out with Vera.
Alpha Chase sat down on his chair and pulled out something from his table. It was a white envelope that was almost turning yellow because of oldness.
“I know that you probably know that you are adopted now,” Alpha Chase started. “You were sent to us when you were still a pup. One of the patrollers heard your cries near the territory and brought you to me. This came with you.”
Amelia took the white envelope. “What is this?”
“A note. One for us. And the other one is for you. Don’t worry. We never read the letter to you and your mother asked me to hide it. Then give it to you when you are old enough.”
Amelia gulped and stared at the envelope. She felt like whatever was inside would confirm her true identity.
